About GDS

GDS provides day care for people with dementia and offers support for carers and family.

The service provided in Inverurie, Monday to Thursday from Flat 3, Pleyfauld House and on Friday from Inverurie Day Centre, supports the local area.

GDS is committed to giving Service Users a social experience, interaction with others, a choice of activities, exercise and music therapy. It aims to encourage:

  • Warm, friendly discussions and reminiscing
  • Physical, social and memory activities
  • Independence, maintaining skills and co-ordination
  • Expression of feelings through art, music, singing and dancing

GDS is a charity run by the service Manager and supported by a Board of Trustees. Its costs are met in part by a charge for the service but it is dependent on fund raising activities and donations to generate the remaining funds required to operate successfully.

The service works in partnership with other groups and organisations for the benefit of people with dementia and their carers and strives to ensure that the care provided meets and exceeds the National Care Standards set for Support Services.
